The curriculum is split into two sub categories: Science and Music. How you approach the instruction of these materials will be specific to your school program, and depend on variables such as class time, class size, co-teachers, resources and so on. Working with the Education Manager from the GRAMMY Museum, a plan should be designed to tailor this program to fit your specific needs. The students are intended to utilize the information generated in the science curriculum as the foundation for their original song creation. Although not mandatory, it is encouraged that students begin with the Science curriculum and then transition into the music portion of the program.

Original lesson plans, activities, and units are provided to offer a myriad of topics to strengthen the student's awareness of the natural world which is woven into their city. Aside from the introductory class and associated nature journals, the curriculum is not linear and can be used in a carte blanche fashion.

Original lesson plans and activities are laid out in a series of linear steps, designed to take the students from the basics of song form to an original composition. Program extensions are offered to assist in original music creation, technology integration, and alternative learning modalities.
